About A.N.D. Cooperative’s Founder and Educator

Alex Detzner, M.Ed., BCBA

Diagnosed with AuDHD (Autistic with ADHD) later in life, I always felt out of place, finding complex problems intuitive but simple tasks overwhelming. Once diagnosed, I realized these challenges were due to AuDHD. Driven by curiosity about human behavior, I became a Behavior Analyst, working in Applied Behavioral Analysis for years while discovering my AuDHD identity. While working in ABA I noticed a focus on masking autistic traits, which conflicted with my values. I believe in celebrating human diversity through individual autonomy, supportive environments, and accessible spaces. Unfortunately, organizations serving my community also often overlook the needs of neurodivergent staff, leading me to set out on my own.

Many neurodivergent folks fall through the cracks when it comes to finding support. From complex or high intellect, to difficulties with demand avoidance, to struggles with accepting their unique identity in a world muddied by stigma. I support Neurodivergent (and Neurodivergent suspecting) folks of all ages, and their families by helping them understand their world, advocate for accommodations, and build skills to live authentically. Partnering with those who want to make a change to move toward more neurodivergent affirming values, radical acceptance of identity, and improved quality of life.

Utilizing the science of Behavior Analysis, including finding ways to help make clients’ behavior observable and measurable to make the patterns clearer. I support my clients in creating tangible change. This approach paired with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and all informed by my lived experience. My practice is uniquely neuroaffirming.
